Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light
Today Wat, our host, took us on a ride around the town we are staying. Our first stop was to the Mayor’s Office in the town of Mae Sa where the primary school is located. We had a nice visit with he and his staff (though it was mostly in Thai so we really just sat there quietly and smiled).
We found out that we will be teaching at a primary school, which actually includes a preschool for kids ages 3-6 and a school for the older children, ages 7-12. These schools are not far apart and we are going to have to figure out how to get from one to the other. We drove to the schools with the Mayor and our host to see where we would be teaching, and then we got to meet with the English teacher, Rinya. This is going to be very fun and very challenging because most people here don’t speak much English and I definitely don’t speak much Thai!
After our meetings Wat took us out to lunch for some glass noodles with pork and veggies—it was wonderful—even the kids liked it. Then we learned that we will also be teaching English to the monks at the local temple near Wat’s home, so we stopped by the temple to speak with the monks about when we would start. The answer, tomorrow! The day finished with a wonderful dinner at Wat’s home with his mother. The food is amazing and I am pleased to see that my children are almost enjoying it as much as I am.
Unfortunately, David’s hives have returned, though they seem to be contained now to his extremities, so again we are hoping this is a sign that they will be going away soon. Anjali is still struggling with a cold, which is a bummer because her appetite is not very good right now.
