Job 22:21-29 Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. Receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart. If you return to the Almighty you will be built up; if you remove injustice far from your tents, if you lay gold in the dust, and gold of Ophir among the stones of the torrent-bed, then the Almighty will be your gold and your precious silver. For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty and lift up your face to God. You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you, and you will pay your vows. You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways. For when they are humbled, you say, ‘It is because of pride’ but he saves the lowly.
I don’t even know where to begin to describe today. We spent the entire day with The Hoffman’s (Susi, Rene, and Emma) and Johannes allowed us to use the church van so we could all drive together. Just riding in the van was fun; Anjali and Emma sat in the backseat playing Pikachu (which is a weird version of rock, paper, scissors).
The rest of us laughed and visited as Rene drove us to Devil’s Wall in Harz. The story behind this wall is that God challenged the Devil to build a wall before rooster crowed. The Devil started to build the wall, but there was a lady in the village who was outside with her rooster in the middle of the night and the rooster crowed. This made the Devil angry because he had not finished the wall so he knocked part of the wall that he had worked on and then disappeared. We all had fun (especially the kids) just hiking around and enjoying the beautiful view of Harz below us.
From Devil’s Wall we went to Thale (which is like an amusement park with rides, a gondola up the mountain where we ate a traditional German lunch of Bratwurst, rolls, fries, and beer! We had so much fun riding the rides and letting the kids just be kids, and even letting the adults be kids!
The ride up the gondola…
The summer toboggan ride.
Playing around in Thale, including the gargoyles, the upside down witch’s house, and rides.
This was such a fun day today. We had so much fun seeing some of the mountains of Harz. Here are a few more pictures of the day!
After returning home quite tired, both Jeff and I spent the rest of the evening making the peach turnovers for Monument Day.
