Daniel 9:9 To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

Today was school and more painting after school. I am finally starting to feel like myself again, which is a very good thing because we are now signed up to participate in an annual run around Schönebeck (Jeff is doing the long run of 13.26 km with Rene and I am doing the 6.63 km). Now this may not seem like much for a lot of people, but this is a huge feat for me. Committing to doing this will be a checkbox off my bucket list. I have always wanted to complete a half marathon (or even a full marathon), but over the last 5 years, my feet have gotten progressively worse and now it is extremely painful to run more than 3 miles at a time. So I am glad I am feeling better so that I can continue with the training process. The run is about 1 month away from now.

As far as school goes, I am finding it quite difficult to work with my student. He has a lot of difficulty with following directions and staying on tasks, yet when I try to offer help he slaps or pushes my hand away. He has even gone as far as build a barrier around his work so I can not see what he is doing. I am working in the classroom with Ines and she assures me to not worry about it and that I am helping him (and her). But to be honest, it can be quite discouraging, because I know that I could be so much more helpful if I just spoke his language. But without a basic knowledge of German, I don’t even understand when he asks me a question. I will continue to press on and continue this work because in the end I can see how much my presence in the classroom is helpful for Ines, I guess I just wish I could do more for the student.
