Numbers 10:29 And Moses said to Hoban the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “we are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will do good to you, for the Lord has promised good to Israel.”

Today was my 2nd day of school. I have to laugh a little because I am truly learning alongside the kids in this class, though these kids are way ahead of me. I am really having a hard time doing this project. It is exceptionally difficult for me. It is not the work itself, because I enjoy helping kids, but what is difficult is trying to do this without language. I mean how do help explain a task to a child, that is already struggling, without language? I have been trained for this stuff, I am a social worker, but I have to now try to navigate through this nonverbally. God has sent us on this path for a reason and He has put me in this situation for a reason, so I must trust His plans. This process though is very trying and exhausting. I have come home the last two days now completely exhausted mentally. It’s like my brain is working overtime trying to decipher what is happening in the class and then trying to figure out how to explain it nonverbally. I know God has my back and He will make this work, but sometimes it is hard to see this when I am in the moment thinking that there is no way I am actually helping anyone.

I don’t have any pictures from today, but I thought it would be nice to share the work that Jeff is doing here. So I have included pictures of the wall that he will be working on repairing during our two month stay. As you can see in the pictures, the wall is definitely needing repair. The mortar has completely washed away in some spots, vines are taking over the wall, and there are even pieces of brick missing.
